Ans:- Fowler was a young and romantic writer.

          Fowler came to meet Ausable who was a secret agent. Ausable lived on the sixth floor of the French hotel. Ausable thought that Fowler was disappointed because he wouldn't find anything what he expected there. Fowler expected a setting for a romantic adventure. He expected myterious figures in the night, the crack of pistols,drugs in the wine etc. But nothing was found by him. Then Ausable told Fowler about an important report regarding some new missiles which would come to him that day. Fowler astonished having heard the story of the false balcony told to Max, another spy, Who Threatened them with pistol. It was the meeting between Ausable and Fowler.

2. How does Ausable manage to make Max belief that there is a balcony atached to his room? (HSLC 2015,2019)

Ans:- Ausable created a false  story regarding a balcony. Ausable sat on a armchair and began to say he was going to raise a complaint to the management about that nuisance balcony. It was the second time in a month that somebody had got into his room through it.He said that the balcony was belonged to the next apartment and later it was extended to under his window. Max looked through the window but it was geting dark outside. Max told them that he did not know about the balcony and entered by a passkey which troubled him much. Suddenly someone knocked at the door. Ausable told him that he had sent for the police as the report needed a little extra protection.To get rid of the police Max jumped through the window so that he could hide himself in the balcony. But he screamed once. He was died as there was no balcony. Thus Ausable managed to make Max believe that there was a balcony attached to his room.

3. Give a description of Max's conversation with Ausable? (2017)

Ans :- When Ausable entered into his room with Fowler and switched on the light, he saw that Max was sitting there in his room with a pistol. Ausable and Fowler astonished having seen him. Max demanded the report regarding the new missiles to him. But Ausable managed the situation by creating a false story of a balcony attached to his room. It diverted his mind because he didn't know about the balcony and he hardly entered by a passkey to his room. Suddenly the door was knocked by someone from outside. Ausable said that it might be police.He said that he called in them for an extra protection of the important report. The knocking was repeated. Max felt nervous and feared. He jumped through the window so that he hide himself in the balcony. He screamed once only . He died as there was no balcony . And there was also no police, Henry came into the room whom he was expecting.  Ausable narrated such a way that Max believed that there was really a balcony there.
